Well, go figure. After the men's hoops team finished hot with six straight wins and seven out of eight, they celebrated their return to post-season play with two big duds. The trip to Las Cruces for the WAC tourney was brief, with (stop me if you've heard this before, like every football season since the turn of the century) Boise St. dumping the 'Dogs, 78-73.
The NIT came calling and FSU flew cross-country to Athens, GA for a butt-whooping at the hands of Georgia's Bulldogs. The final score was 88-78, but the two teams were separated by more than a mere 10 points.
The ladies finished up in similar fashion, though with slightly better results. After closing out the season with four wins in their last five games, FSU notched one win in the WAC tournament before bowing out to a certain collection of Broncos. No NIT bid for the ladies team.
So the men finished up with a record of 22-10 overall and 10-6 in the WAC, while the women came in with a mark of 17-13, 9-7 in conference.
Improvement on the mens' side, a little dropoff from the ladies. But no controversey or sanctions. We'll call it good.
